Plumbing is in everyone’s homes but how many people can actually tell you how their plumbing system works? It’s something we take for granted, but if you know a few basic things about your plumbing system, you’ll be able to identify problems that need to be repaired before they get out of hand.
The first part of the system you should know about is the drains. When your water appliances are used, drains carry it away along with waste. All of the drains leave your home and then flow at a slight decline until they reach the municipal water treatment facility. You need to be aware of drain clogs and leaks because they can lead to a mess quickly.
Another major part of your plumbing system is your potable water pipes. You may get your potable water from municipal authorities or your own well. The water is pumped into the home and sent to a water heater tank or tankless water heater. Some homes will also add a water softener because of the high amount of minerals in parts of the country.
