Flood damage can be extremely detrimental to any building. Not only does it ruin walls, floors, furniture, insulation, and electrical appliances, but it presents biological hazards to people, too. This video explains everything homeowners need to know about water damage and flood damage restoration.
Water damage can be caused by a variety of things. Perhaps your roof took some damage in the most recent storm and is leaking into your home. Maybe a lot of rainfall caused flooding in your area and your basement suffered the consequences. Maybe a leaky water pipe in your walls has burst and caused major damage in your home.
No matter the cause, water damage will cause floorboards to warp, staining all around your home, musty odors, and growth of mold and mildew. It can also be a serious threat by short-circuiting electrical appliances and wiring in your home. If you have excessive flooding or water damage around an electrical system, make sure to turn your power off to protect yourself.
If you spot mold in your home, don’t put a fan on it. The airflow will cause the spores and other germs to carry into the air where you may breathe it in and compromise your immune system. For more information, check out the video above.
