This YouTube video by One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning shows what’s involved in air conditioner installation. Though this normally includes the furnace coil and condenser, the presentation focuses on the outside AC unit.
In a team of two, the technicians make sure everything is disconnected before the old unit is removed. This means shutting down power at the interior furnace coil and condenser.
The outside tech also recovers refrigerant from the old unit for proper disposal.
Air conditioner installation is more than replacement of the condenser. It requires the removal of old electrical cables for new models. There are situations where equipment from previous HVAC systems isn’t compatible with newer versions.
Once the old AC unit is removed, the technician is required to measure the space out. This is for serviceability to the condenser’s mechanical parts. It also determines if the previous AC had sunk into the ground. In that situation, the space must be leveled before the new unit is applied.
